9th Dare to Move held ‘for a cause’
The Events Management Class of the Hotel and Restaurant Management program hosted Dare to Move: Lucky 9, the 9th installation in the Dare to Move series, a dance competition open for senior high school and college students from Cavite and Metro Manila, at the Le Pavilion Metropolitan Park, Pasay City on March 8.
Out of the 13 performing acts, the top nine teams were selected to form the ‘Lucky 9’, to which each team picked their best dancer to participate in a dance battle, with each dancer performing various dance styles with different music genres.
Cavite State University – Imus’ Sinagtala Dance Troupe emerged with the Best Dancer title for the Dance Battle, after performing a Hip-Hop rendition of the Cha-Cha. Cavite National High School’s The Flipside won the overall championship, bagging the People’s Choice Award.
Meanwhile, Asian Institute of Maritime Studies’s SMDP and Notre Dame of Greater Manila grabbed second and third place, respectively.
Dare to Move: Lucky 9 also featured performances by the DLSU-D Chorale, Lasallian Pop Band, and international talents such as Urban Crew, and JBK

For a cause
Proceeds of the event will benefit the Marawi siege victims and Olivia Panganiban Vargas, a DLSU-D staff from the Student Welfare and Formation Office diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer.
“We’d like to share a part of the profit and extend help to those who are in need,” Dare to Move: Lucky 9 Events Manager Avery Remulla said.
“‘Yong Marawi siege victims, sa LCDC (Lasallian Community Development Center), do’n namin ibibigay ‘yong donation namin,” Remulla said.
According to him, the organizing team of Dare to Move: Lucky 9 personally talked to Vargas, assuring that both beneficiaries will receive part of the event’s earnings.
