Back

no return(?)

here lies the hope of a bleeding nation

where blood, sweat, and tears are spent to stay alive.

power sits on golden thrones seeping with grandiose delusion,

poverty-stricken citizens given just enough to survive.

and where blood, sweat, and tears are spent to stay alive,

in high places dishonor lies among the thieving.

poverty-stricken citizens are given just enough to survive,

while unity subsists on greed and devours the ones left living.

in high places dishonor lies among the thieving—

deadbeat idols who spit deceit and lies like jokes;

their unity subsisting on greed and devouring the ones left living,

their promises remain nothing but perversions of hope.

despite deadbeat idols who spit deceit and lies like jokes,

there remain three hundred and sixty-five days for a revolution.

our promises are rooted in remembrance of hope,

and taking one push to stand against oppression’s gravitation.

still—there remain three hundred and sixty-five days for a revolution,

and one sliver of light may spark the population’s ambition—

one push to stand against oppression’s gravitation.

here lies the hope for our bleeding nation.
