The Marketing Communications Office (MCO) and DLSU-D Events Management Team, in coordination with the Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC), initiated a new outreach program of the University titled Life Begins @ 40 Project that will benefit 40 elderly citizens living in Barangay Zone 1-A, Dasmariñas City.

The project was launched during the birthday celebration of University President Br. Augustine “Gus” Boquer FSC on November 19, 2015.

According to MCO Director Rosanni Sarile, they will be requesting 40 departments and offices in the University to financially sponsor and support the 40 elderly citizens chosen by the LCDC from ages 63 to 82 years old for a trial period of one year.

The MCO and DLSU-D Events Management Team are planning to offer different activities for the said beneficiaries such as retreats, seminars, and activities about physical wellness, an on-campus social event, free film showing, theatrical performances, and concerts every month.

Sarile said they also plan to educate the elderly citizens on basic computer skills, public speaking, and the English language.

“If the project turned (sic) out well after a trial period of one year, this would become an annual program as one of the University’s extension projects,” she added.

Meanwhile, Sarile said they are currently coordinating with the Parents Organization La Salle Cavite (POLCA), college departments, and faculty associations to serve as sponsors for the project’s trial period.
