Rappler holds #TheLeaderIWant Forum in DLSU-D

DLSU-D served as the next stop in Rappler’s #TheLeaderIWant Forum, a series of forums held across the Philippines to help empower Filipino voters in choosing their presidential candidates for the 2016 national elections.

Rappler’s civic engagement arm, MovePH, in partnership with the DLSU-D Communication and Journalism Department, organized the #TheLeaderIWant Forum at the Alumni Auditorium on March 15.

The event included a citizen journalism workshop for Communication and Journalism students from DLSU-D and National College of Science and Technology-Dasmariñas.

MovePH Executive Director Rupert Ambil discussed the operational perspective on Philippine media, while Rappler’s reporter David Lozada talked about multimedia reporting.

The forum also featured Rappler CEO and Executive Editor Maria Ressa, who talked about harnessing the power of the crowd to change leadership structures, and Rappler News Editor Miriam Grace Go, who discussed problems in governance and politics in Cavite.

The forum was held as part of COMPACT 2016: Communication for Sustainable Development, a week-long activity hosted by the DLSU-D Communication and Journalism Department.
