‘MobKard may soon be open for all DLSU-D students’ – DLSDAAI

The well-known mobile engagement platform known to provide sales, discounts, and privileges to Alumni Association members, MobKard may soon be available to all DLSU-D students from the De La Salle Dasmariñas Alumni Association Inc. (DLSDAAI) and Alumni Relations and Placement Office, as per DLSDAAI President Nathaniel Golla.

For “wider profit” of discounts and privileges, Golla said they are yet to plan the extension of MobKard to all DLSU-D students since the University Student Council (USC) is yet to coordinate with them.

“Sana kung SC (Student Council) would approach us, puwede namin ‘yang i-extend sa mga estudyante [hindi lang sa alumni],” he furthered.

Accessing Mobkard

MobKard is a mobile engagement platform that entitles DLSU-D alumni to discounts and privileges from its partner establishments, such as Serenitea, Vans, and The Bistro Group.

To receive benefits from MobKard, Golla said they (DLSDAAI) grant access codes to the DLSU-D alumni which are used to activate their own MobKard accounts.

“Pupunta sila (alumni) dito or tatawag sila dito. Tapos verify lang namin sa system [namin] kung siya nga ay graduate natin tapos bibigyan siyang access code,” he added.

Unlike privilege cards, DLSU-D alumni can access MobKard by simply downloading the application through the App or Play store for free.

After MobKard has been downloaded and activated, DLSU-D alumni can now enjoy the benefits of the application by capturing a Quick Response (QR) Code and standardized discounts will be automatically granted depending on the partner establishment.

Golla mentioned that MobKard notifies one’s smartphone whenever a partner establishment nearby has a sale.

“Pero kailangan naka-internet connection ka e,” he explained, seeing as the application relies on internet. .

Apart from discounts and privileges, the DLSU-D alumni may also receive announcements from DLSDAAI through MobKard.

However, Golla mentioned that since 2013 when MobKard was established, some DLSU-D alumni reported complaints on the difficulty in downloading the application. He furthered that they are still coordinating with MobKard to fix the problem.

“Kasi kami, Alumni Association, nagbayad kami sa MobKard e … so ine-expect namin na sana mataas, tumaas ‘yong rating no’ng application,” he expressed.

Target partner establishments

Golla said they are aiming to provide discounts and benefits when it comes to basic needs that are appropriate for DLSU-D alumni, such as office supplies and medication. “Mas malaking bagay ‘yon kung may discount ka halimbawa sa Mercury Drug ‘diba?” he mentioned.

According to Golla, they started establishing a partnership with MobKard during his assumption as the president of DLSDAAI in academic year (AY) 2014-2015.

As Golla’s term ends this AY 2016-2017, he plans to formally launch MobKard in January or February to the wider community of DLSU-D, beyond the numerous DLSU-D alumni who already have access.

However, he mentioned that since a partnership takes a long process of planning, only DLSU-D alumni can enjoy the complete benefits and privileges of MobKard as of now.
