CBAASC holds Eloquence to hone DLSU-D students’ English proficiency
The College of Business Administration and Accountancy Student Council (CBAASC), together with their tie-up organizations, opened Students’ Week by conducting a seminar and workshop entitled “Eloquence: English Proficiency Seminar and Workshop” at Ugnayang La Salle (ULS) and College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM) Student Lounge on November 21 and 22, respectively.
Eloquence is a seminar and workshop that aims to show the importance of English proficiency as a good communication tool in the workplace through the speakers’ lectures on their expertise and experience in their respective professional fields.
In collaboration with the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology Student Council (CEATSC), College of Education Student Council (COEdSC), and Allied Business Student Society, over 1,200 students participated in the event, as per CBAASC Public Relations Officer and Project Head Israel Pajarillo.

Two-day event
Eloquence started with Jaime Borromeo II’s lecture, Leadership and Communication, wherein he emphasized the five C’s of achieving success in your chosen career which are as follows: clarity, condition, compound, commitment, and critical.
Meanwhile, Rosa Garcia-Inciong, department manager of Capital One Philippines, gave lessons on English in the Workplace, including the impact of direct translations of English to Tagalog words.
In line with this, Maria Navoa Concepcion, training and development manager at Hopkins International Partners Inc., tackled the benefits of the Test of English for International Communication to the audience, especially second and fourth year students.
For the last speaker, Antonio Jose “Tonipet” Gaba, Television Host and Presenter for GMA News and Public Affairs and De La Salle University alumnus, discussed public speaking to the audience.
On the second day, Raul de la Vega, an associate consultant at Southeast Asia Speakers and Trainers Bureau Inc., spearheaded the workshop at the CTHM student lounge from 8AM to 12PM.
