Lady Patriots capture first NCRUCLAA win, sweep Lady Jaguars, 3-0
DLSU-D Lady Patriots tamed the Philippine School of Business Administration – Quezon City Lady Jaguars in an overwhelming 25-7, 25-20, and 25-14, tally to kick off their NCRUCLAA women’s volleyball campaign on a high note at the Colegio de San Lorenzo Gymnasium in Quezon City, January 27.
Complete shut down
Right at the tip of the first canto, the green-and-white squad proved supreme in the match, producing a well-rounded offense through their excellent defense with veterans Mara Galicia and Frances Bartolazo’s heavy bombs, 25-7.
Despite opening the second canto on a tight 10-8 mark, the Dasmariñas-based squad committed a series of errors, allowing the Quezon City-based squad to pull six-straight markers, 10-14. However, DLSU-D shrugged it off and managed to answer back with seven-straight markers to reclaim the lead, 17-14. The Lady Patriot took advantage of the opponent’s losing scoring rhythm to snatch another set and move one-set closer to the victory, 25-20.
Cutting the PSBA’s chance to grab a set, the DLSU-D squad bombarded their opponents with Basilyn Delfin and Sigrid Abalos’ powerful spikes and Bartolazo’s superb service aces, clutching the third and last canto, 25-14.
Bannering the green-and-white flag, the Lady Patriots will face the Philippine Merchant Marine School next at their home court in Las Piñas on February 10 at 12:00 in the afternoon.
