5.5% proposed tuition fee increase next AY approved; awaiting CHEd submission

The proposed 5.5% tuition fee increase for upperclassmen and 6% for freshmen for academic year 2019-2020 has been approved by tuition fee consultation committee and is up for submission to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd), as per the decision made during the third meeting of the consultation committee on March 11.

The University Student Council (USC) expressed disapproval on the proposed tuition fee increase, “We (USC) already submitted our stand and the individual stands of the College Student Councils as attachments to the request of the Administration for a tuition fee increase,” said USC Vice President Jason Real.

Moreover, more than 1,000 signatories have been reached for the online petition titled “De La Salle University – Dasmarinas: Stop the proposed tuition fee increase in DLSU-D” with the hashtag #AyokoMagmahalDLSUD coming from social media.

As of press time, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administrative Services is preparing the necessary documents to be submitted to the Commission on Higher Education (CHEd) on or before March 29.
