Civilian attire permitted starting tomorrow until May 15
Following the letter of request by the University Student Council (USC), students are permitted to wear the prescribed civilian attire starting tomorrow, April 15, until May 15, as per the approval of Office of Student Services (OSS) Dean Arch. Antonio Gutierrez Jr.
“As simple as that, peak summer [season] sa April”, Gutierrez said, based on an Accuweather forecast for Dasmariñas pertaining to the reason behind the start of civilian attire this April rather than March.
The initial date of implementation in the request letter from the USC was on March 25 due to the arrival of the El Niño season and the beginning of the summer season, as stated by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Moreover, an extension of the allowed wearing of prescribed civilian attire is possible as a result of the continuous rise in temperature during the summer season, “If ever ma-prolong siya (peak summer season) willing naman ako na i-extend [ang wearing of prescribed civilian attire],” Gutierrez mentioned.
Last academic year 2017-2018, former OSS Dean Mario Torres approved the same implementation beginning on March 15, 2018 after a request was made by the 2017-2018 USC.
