PSPC opens online voter’s registration for DLSU-D students

As part of the Boto Lasalyano campaign that encourages active participation of the students in the 2016 national and local elections, the DLSU-D Political Science Program Council (PSPC) organized an online voters’ registration at the Julian Felipe Hall (JFH) Grounds and at the College of Business Administration and Accountancy (CBAA) computer rooms on September 28 and 29.

The said event was conducted in partnership with the University Student Council, Students Commission on Elections, College of Liberal Arts and Communication Student Council, Development Society, College of Computer Science Student Council, Industrial Engineering Program Council, Development Society Program Council, and Lasallian Community Development Center.

According to PSPC President Joanna Torres, 214 students registered at the designated computer rooms in JFH and CBAA. The objective of the activity is to encourage eligible student voters to register at iRehistro, a project of the Commissions of Elections (COMELEC) launched on October to serve as an alternative and convenient way of registering for the 2016 elections.

Students may visit iRehistro or COMELEC to access the online voting forms and other voter-related services, such as reactivation or transfer of voter records.

However, Torres clarified that students will still need to submit a printed copy of the online application form to their respective municipal/city halls, where the local COMELEC will capture the applicants’ biometrics, thus completing the registration process.

Meanwhile, the iRehistro website also allows the applicant to schedule an appointment for the biometrics capture, provided that the chosen date falls before the deadline of the voter’s registration on October 31.
