VPAPU creates face shields for COVID-19 frontliners
The Visual & Performing Arts Production Unit (VPAPU) posted a crowdsourcing announcement on their Facebook page on March 23, looking for suppliers of materials needed to do alternative face shields that health workers can use as personal protective equipment (PPE). Primarily using their own accumulated funds to buy materials, they were able to make the first batch of face shields which they donated to De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC) and Pagamutan ng Dasmariñas.
They also plan to donate more to other hospitals in Cavite and Manila such as Medical Center Imus (MCI), and Philippine General Hospital (PGH).
“Seeing these health workers, specialists, and professionals doing their job to eradicate the virus, that is the reason why the organization wants to push through this project. As much as possible, we want to make it as we can possibly donate it to our front liners,” VPAPU said.
Aside from all their members, the student organization’s alumni also pledged to donate and help in the process of making the face shields, while their adviser managed distribution of the donations.
So far, VPAPU has already made 100 out of their 500-piece goal and is still open for donations in kind or in cash
