At the World’s Edge
Art by Sheka Ignaco
I climbed out of my box
only to find out that I’m inside a box
that is a box
inside a box
inside a box
inside a box.
And every time I climbed out
of its four walls
I rose and stretched and grew anew,
unable to go back
to the box I once knew.
There were beliefs I never heard,
words I never understood,
and love I never touched.
So I explored every corner
till I understood the depths of its dimensions
that were often filled with new luxuries
which carried inevitable agonies.
Yet I do not know where these endless sets
of sides and edges lead
But each time I look behind,
I marvel the worlds I’ve come across
bound behind the tiny walls
I once thought I could never cross.
