CALABARZON tracksters defend their 4 x 100 meter relay throne in PRISAA nat’ls
Despite one injured teammate, Region 4-A representatives Robert Francisco, Ralph Gesulgon, Frederick Valenzuela, and Alvin Valdenarro retained their 4 x 100 meter relay title and added gold to CALABARZON’s tally during the third day of the athletics competition at the Southern Cotabato Sports Complex, Koronadal City, South Cotabato today, April 6. With a 0.08 seconds difference, the Patriots clocked a 43.25 seconds time against the second placer Region 6, who set a close 43.33 seconds record.
Before the game, Valdenarro suffered from plantar fasciitis but the Patriot shared that his foot pain didn’t affect their performance as they worked as a team during the relay event. “Kami ‘yung nakakuha ng gold kasi hindi lang naman ako ‘yung naglaro. Pinahinga ko lang [‘yung paa ko tapos] uminom ng gamot na may kasamang pagdarasal. Sila (teammates) ‘yung nagpondo so dapat ko i-maintain o lampasan ‘yung nagawa nila para hindi na mahabol ng kalaban [‘yung record] namin.”
Meanwhile, the CALABARZON lady tracksters represented by Patriots Marimar Manzano and Jasmin Martinez, and Lyceum of the Philippines University-Batangas’ May Ann Manangan and Pamela Fondevilla, finished second with 50.83 seconds time in the women’s 4 x 100 meter relay finals event.
