GMA News and Public Affair’s news anchor, reporter, and director Cesar Apolinario took the stage as the fourth speaker for the Communication and Media Society (COMMSOC) Power Talk with the theme “Calibrating the Power of Media” at the Centennial Hall on February 20.

Apolinario shared the stories of some people he interviewed from his news coverages, such as Lolita Makaminang, an Indonesian who wants to be a natural born Filipino due to her love for the Philippine culture, and Janela Lelis, a sixth grader who became known on social media for risking her life to save the Philippine flag from the flood.

COMMSOC Power Talk Project Head Laica Olei Sinense said this year’s Power Talk aims to inspire students to be future journalists.

Dati ang mga topic ng Power Talk ay tungkol sa social media, film, and scriptwriting. This time, the Power Talk focused on journalism,” she added.

According to Sinense, the COMMSOC Power Talk is free as the said organization used its own funds to organize the event.
