Dasma City Mayor “Pidi” Barzaga calls for citizens’ cooperation

Two days after the implementation of Sangguniang Panglungsod Resolution No. 155-s-2017 on August 24, Dasmariñas City Mayor Elpidio “Pidi” Barzaga Jr. posted a new Facebook post addressed to Dasmarineños’ yesterday, August 26, wherein he assured the safety of Dasmarineños’ in the city. He also asked for their cooperation to share any information with the Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) that may lead to the arrest of the riding-in-tandem suspects.
In the said Facebook post, Barzaga explained that the Cavite PPO, led by Senior Superintendent Arthur Bisnar, has taken control of the situation and that they are ‘near’ to catching the suspects involved in the shooting incidents.
Barzaga stated in his Facebook post, “Ipinapabatid ng inyong kapulisan sa lahat ng mamamayan ng Cavite na walang dapat ikatakot o ipangamba dahil ang lahat ng inyong mga Pulis ay nasa inyong mga pamayanan at lansangan 24/7 upang kayo ay mabantayan at maprotektahan.”
Furthermore, Barzaga also asked for the Dasmarineños’ cooperation to ‘stay calm’ at all times despite the need to be alert and aware of one’s environment. Moreover, he said that the Cavite PPO requested the Dasmarineños’ to be responsible in posting any ‘unvalidated information’ and ‘unverified reports’ on social media and in the comments section of various Facebook posts since it may cause unintended panic.

Barzaga also guaranteed that the cooperation of the Dasmariñas Police Station, Sangguniang Panglunsod, Dasmariñas Representative Jennifer Barzaga, and Barangays in the City of Dasmariñas will continue to safeguard the city 24 hours every day.
In response to the implementation of the new no helmet policy and the establishment of checkpoints at the city, some De La Salle University-Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) students shared their reactions and opinions, with one student, female, 19, saying “I saw them carrying a kind of gun but it made me feel at least safer.”
However, another student, male, 18, said that some motor riders were not thoroughly inspected by the police at a checkpoint area in the city. “May nadaanan akong checkpoint kaso hindi lahat ng dumadaan na motor [rider] sa harap nila e chine-check nila. May ibang nakakalagpas sa check point.”
