Dasma Police clarifies: robbery, hold-up under investigation; rape along DLSUMC area a hoax

On October 17, 2019, Twitter user @yssadeflin tweeted about alleged incidents of hold-up at 7-Eleven – De La Salle University Medical Center (DLSUMC), shooting threat in front of Emilio Aguinaldo College, and rape under the bridge beside Certz Food Hauz in one week. The tweet went viral within 24 hours, alarming netizens.

 

 

Meanwhile, on the same day, a message from an unknown source circulated through Facebook, warning residents of Villa Isabel and Villa Nicasia about the same alleged case of rape.

 

 

“Wala pong rape na nangyari,” Police Corporal Joan Medina told The HERALDO FILIPINO this morning. While they confirmed that there isn’t any case of rape reported on October 13 to 15 contrary to the viral message, Dasmariñas City Police could not confirm anything about the mugging mentioned in the tweet, as these incidents are still under investigation and on the process of validating.

“Ang ating kapulisan, sa pamumuno ni COP Nerwin Ricohermoso, ay nagsagawa ng imbestigasyon sa nasabing lugar. Dito, lumabas na walang anumang [sic] senyales na nagkaroon ng insidente ng panggagahasa sa lugar,” Mayor Jenny Barzaga said in her statement online.

“Ganunpaman [sic], pinag-iingat ang lahat at pinaaalahanang maging alerto at i-prayoridad ang kaligtasan ng sarili sa lahat ng oras.”
