Lady Patriots reign as basketball champions

Dominating on both ends of the court, the DLSU-D Lady Patriots enthroned the Dasmariñas City Collegiate Athletic Association (DCCAA) Basketball 2024 crown with a 69-40 victory over Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas (PCU-D) Dolphins. Meanwhile, the men’s team secured the bronze with a commanding 112-66 win over the Asian Institute of Science and Technology (AISAT) Titans last November 28, Thursday, at the Ugnayang La Salle (ULS).

The Lady Patriots dominated early in the match by outscoring Dolphins (14-5) in the first quarter, placing the opposing team under visible pressure as they continuously struggled to break through the well-executed defensive schemes of DLSU-D.

During the second quarter, the Lady Patriots extended their lead to 29-17, with Jonalyn Bongalos emerging as the standout player by scoring the most points and showcasing her offensive prowess against the opposing team.

Eula Atienza prevailed in the third quarter through leading DLSU-D’s offensive surge, while tensions escalated with a technical foul on PCU-D’s end which allowed the Lady Patriots to capitalize on the momentum and extend their lead decisively until the end of the quarter.

The Lady Patriots reigned the match, 69-40, driven by an exceptional all-around performance from Finals MVP and mythical five player Eula Atienza, who solidified her role as the catalyst for DLSU-D’s championship run; while Manicel Solomon was also awarded as part of the league’s 2024 mythical five.

In addition to emphasizing the Lady Patriots’ supremacy on the court, the triumph also highlights their growth and success as a formidable team in the competition.
