DevSoc holds first Risk Reduction Management seminar
To prepare student leaders for their role in risk reduction management, the DLSU-D Development Society (DevSoc) held its first Risk Reduction Management seminar with the theme, “Sa Oras ng Kalamidad, Lider pa Rin,” at the Alumni Auditorium on April 4.
Student leaders from different colleges participated in discussions led by General Sciences Office (GSO) Director Edwin Bunag and Rescue and Survival Guru Vicente Lagunday from the University of Perpetual Help System Disaster Prevention and Reduction Office about reducing damages brought by calamities in the country.
Vicente Lagunday from the University of Perpetual Help System Disaster Prevention and Reduction Office discusses how the youth can volunteer in rescue operations after calamities.
Bunag shared his insights regarding the importance of the student leaders’ role in ensuring the entire Lasallian community’s safety while Lagunday tackled how student leaders must act, improvise, and volunteer in every disaster relief program to practice their initiative and responsibility during calamities.
The event was organized in collaboration with the University Student Council (USC), Lasallian First Aiders – Red Cross youth, Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC), and GSO.
According to DLSU-D DevSoc Secretary and Risk Reduction Management Project Head Bianca Mangibin, “We are now planning to continuously conduct this type of event for the succeeding years. Kahit na kaunti pa lang ‘yung naimbitahan naming student leaders, naniniwala pa rin ako na it is just the start.”
