DLSU-D cagers drop 16th FSC’s championship chance, 60-67

The DLSU-D cagers handed the championship opportunity to their blood brother, De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde (DLS – CSB) Blazers, after succumbing to a 60-67 shortfall in the 16th Friendly and Solidarity Cup semifinals match held at the De La Salle Lipa Gymnasium on March 13.

Leading the Taft-based squad, Blazer Kendrix Belgiga carried his team to a conquest with his 11-point record along with his teammates Joshua De Sequera and import Clement Leutcheu, who combined for 20 points. Meanwhile, Patriot cager John Cantimbuhan contributed a 19-point tally while Luke Parcero gained 17 points.

 

 

Blazing energy

Slashing with their own weapon, the Blazers took the first possession of the game after a layup shot from their import player Leutcheu, 0-2.

The Patriot cagers crave for revenge as center Anthon Castro and Egie Mojica banked consecutive layup shots to clamor their deficit in addition to Parcero and Remulla, who sniffed one free throw shot each to gather a 7-9 deficiency.

Sustaining their gap, Leutcheu smashed a one-handed dunk with 3:50 remaining in the first canto that stunned their opponent to 9-15 tally.

Patriot John Cantimbuhan made a big deal through their gap after firing a jump shot and one free throw shot, 27-34.

 

 

 

Clash of brothers

Launching a collision between the La Salle schools, Blazers maintained their advantage as Belgiga fired another charity through his tear drop shot and Louie Pasamante’s layup shot. However, Patriot ace Parcero clinched a jump shot to cut their deficit to a single digit, 37-46.

Patriots set up for another comeback through duo Parcero and Cantimbuhan’s intense offense, 60-63.

The Blazer cagers sealed the game through a 60-67 win against the Patriot cagers after Carlo Young’s free throw shot.

Spotting for a bronze, the DLSU-D cagers will face the First Institutes of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) on Saturday, March 19.
