DLSU-D snatches gold medal in 21st UniGames javelin throw

Owning the throne of the Philippines University Games (UniGames) javelin throw, last year’s silver medalist Patriot Ralph Gesulgon’s strength tossed further than Far Eastern University (FEU), De La Salle College of Saint Benilde (DLS-CSB), and University of the Philippines – Diliman (UP – D) in the 21st UniGames at the Macias Pecides Coliseum, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, yesterday, October 28.

1-1

The first time Gesulgon exerted a powerful throw, he recorded a distance of 49.06 meters that topped the first round.

Improving his mark, the Iloilo native took down 50.93 and 50.17 meters in the second and third throw respectively. However, FEU’s Rejohn Cliff Gadian outshined him with 51.98 meters in the same round, temporarily placing DLSU-D’s Gesulgon in the silver position.

Bouncing back to snatch the first place, the five foot ten Gesulgon lobbed a deciding 54.82-meter record in the fourth throw.

The dominating berth wasn’t over though as the Patriot veteran even registered a 54.86 and an overpowering 55.42 meters in the fifth and last round, respectively.
