DLSU-D students react to SWAFO’s interception of attempted Naruto Run

Several DLSU-D students posted their reactions and opinions regarding the halted “Naruto Run” event after the Student Welfare and Formation Office (SWAFO) intercepted DLSU-D students in the event before it even began on September 27.

After the event was halted, DLSU-D student “Edwin” said, “Isa po itong malinaw na testamento na ang mga mag-aaral ng Pamantasan ng De La Salle [Dasmariñas] ay walang kalayaan na ipahayag ang gusto nila gawin at wala silang karapatan na magka-isa. Pinapakita nito kung gaano kahigpit dito sa ating University na ang simpleng pagtakbo ay pinagbabawalan ng SWAFO; nanguha pa sila ng ID kanina, nanghila sila ng ID kanina which I think is bawal.

Meanwhile, DLSU-D student “Julian” said, “Sayang ‘to, maganda sana ‘to, promotion sana ‘to sa pagiging isang Lasalyano na ‘ah maganda ‘to, may ganitong event pala sa La Salle.’ Yon nga lang, nasa school grounds lang.

In response to SWAFO’s decision to stop the Naruto Run event, “Julian” said that what they did was part of their job, which is “in charge of the enforcement of student discipline policies, rules and regulations as stipulated in the Student Handbook.”

Meanwhile online, some DLSU-D students took their disappointment and angry reactions to Facebook and Twitter. DLSU-D student “Camille” posted a Facebook status, stating, “If SWAFO wanted to stop the #NarutoRun they should have made a statement to warn the students not to join beforehand #justsaying.”

Another DLSU-D student posted a Facebook status stating how the students are “not welcomed” to freely conduct such simple events at the University despite the social responsibilities bestowed upon them. The Facebook post includes, “The Naruto Run isn’t just a simple thing. Napakalalim ng implication sa nangyari today, it says a lot about what system we have today. Since nalalapit na naman ‘yong handbook revision, sana mapag-isipan din nila ‘yong tungkol dito.
