Exploring Davao: A sip of summer

3-min
Haven in the city: Energy Park, Tagum City

For anyone who craves peace of mind and rays of comfort, a 25-hectare of land free from the urban area’s ruckus is located at the heart of Tagum City, Davao del Norte. The Energy Park, commonly called E-Park, is an epitome of tranquillity with an atmospheric sense of nature. Together with a large enclosure for various bird species, the crown of tree canopies shelters the haven for the visitors and wildlife beneath.

Since E in E-Park stands for “energy,” one’s vitality and vigor would definitely be gratified with the multitude of bicycles that are available for rent at just 20 pesos for a single bicycle and 40 pesos for a sidecar bicycle. Aside from the broad bike lanes, what draws the park to be more stimulating is the cemented bridges for bike trails with various elevations such as high or low and curvy or straight.

Visitors are also given free will to do anything that piques their interests so long as it won’t harm the environment and the wildlife, such as picnics with family and team buildings with friends. At the very end of the park lies a mini-sanctuary where you can freely feed, with a prescribed amount of food, the few caged creatures like ostriches and monkeys that are taken care of by Tagum City’s government officers.

Truly, E-Park is a haven of refuge for peace in the city, perfect for families and friends who won’t mind rising at daybreak to pitch their tents or lay down on their mats in the park’s open areas after exhausting themselves on a morning jog or bike ride.
