Rather than traveling out of town for Quezon City’s Maginhawa Street’s abundant food trucks, food trucks themselves have found their way to our doorsteps in Cavite. Even better, the branch of mobile eats is just a short commute away from the University.
Embracing the taste of diversity, their food specialties vary depending on which food trucks are parked on a particular day. Nevertheless, the resident food truck named “FugoWagon” stationed at The Backyard Food Truck Community (TBFTC) offers a steady supply of flame-grilled burgers, pasta, and chorizo paella everyday. For those who aspire to be a “food trucker” for a day or two, The Backyard provides a permanently parked “Guest Chef Trailer” to which the Backyard’s owner Lito Fugoso comments that, “Chefs or cooks can use this before they decide to buy their own food truck.”
The Backyard prides itself as a concept venue dedicated for food trucks only, with guest food truckers parked on certain days, like the currently stationed “Truck Bun – International Food Truck” with its culturally adventurous flavors. “Good food, good music, and good vibes” go hand in hand as The Backyard provides pop-up events such as acoustic and DJ sets, spoken word poetry, and live art wall painting. The food truck community is a family business intended to offer “something new” to the local market and to neighboring towns, bringing the tasty adventures of Manila to the South.
Radiating an outdoor atmosphere that’s a little rough around the edges, TBFTC offers Caviteños a memorable night out under the stars amid the smoke and the smell of freshly cooked burgers and wraps. Adding aesthetic to the ambience, a string of lights covering the stars adds a twist of night-time romance to the “open-air diner of food trucks.”
