ICTC launches portal ver. 5.0, Office 365 for students
As part of the Information and Communications Technology Center (ICTC) Week celebration, with the theme “Integrating Green Ideas to Create Sustainable IT Solutions,” the ICTC launched the myDLSU-D portal version 5.0 Beta together with the Microsoft Office 365 for students at the Salrial Hall on December 7.
The new myDLSU-D portal includes the same features and applications as the old version, but it introduces a new interactive design that is mobile-friendly and gives users easier access.
According to ICTC Solutions Developer Joseph Guerrero, they are planning to add a reservations system application in the myDLSU-D portal of student leaders, so they can make online bookings of venues for their events.
The ICTC will need to coordinate with the University Student Council (USC) 2015-2016 and other student organizations before they can identify the names of student leaders whose myDLSU-D portal will be given access to the said reservations application.

Student organizations can also promote their events in the DLSU-D website using the new myDLSU-D portal through the Post Events Online application.
Moreover, to prevent students from using several email addresses for different applications, the ICTC will create a centralized account that will allow students to use only one username and password.
“Dati kasi, iba’t-ibang email ‘yung ginagamit para sa School Book at portal. Ngayon, gagawin nating single account na lang para maa-access na ‘yong ibang applications gamit ‘yung myDLSU-D account,” Guerrero said.
Meanwhile, the old version of the myDLSU-D portal will remain available for students and faculty until the ICTC announces the official date when it can no longer be used.
ICTC Director Kristina Miciano mentioned that they will conduct seminars to orient the students and faculty regarding the use of the improved myDLSU-D portal and Office 365 at the ICTC and College of Tourism and Hospitality Management buildings on December 9 to 11.

Office 365
Among the new applications of the myDLSU-D portal version 5.0 is the Microsoft Office 365 where students can download and install free Microsoft Office 2016 software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and Skype for Business.
With Office 365, students can also avail of a 1TB worth of personal cloud storage, which is useful for keeping and sharing files across any computer or device.
The ICTC, in partnership with Microsoft Philippines, has arranged an Office 365 activation booth at the ICTC building, which is open for all students during break time from December 9 to 11.
The ICTC urges students to activate their Office 365 accounts before the end of the second semester of academic year (AY) 2015-2016 as the temporary passwords uploaded by the ICTC will expire after six months. • With a report from Yna Marisse Sodoy
