Patriot cagebelles wreck Lady Vanguards to break winless streak in NCRUCLAA, 89-63
Bouncing back from their two consecutive losses, the DLSU-D cagebelles unleashed their valor to defeat the Emilio Aguinaldo College-Cavite (EAC-C) Lady Vanguards, 89-63, while gaining their first rout in the eliminations round of National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) at the Ugnayang La Salle (ULS) on February 22.
Ceasing the spell
Feeding their urge to battle, the green-and-white team pushed a double-digit advantage in the first canto through Mariel Campasa’s relentless three-pointers and layups, 30-15.
Pulling the curtains of the second quarter, Patriot team captain Janine Well Rodriguez spearheaded the match with her closing rainbow shot, 58-36.
Losing their composure, the Lady Vanguards bowed down to the Patriot cagebelles as Campasa and Diane Reyes joined forces to release an 8-0 run through back-to-back treys and fast breaks, 74-46.
Crushing the hopes of the 10th United CALABARZON Collegiate League queens, the DLSU-D cagebelles smashed the Lady Vanguards as Patriot Marie Gold Limpangog unleashed a closing below-the-paint shot, 89-61.
With only six players on their roster, green-and-white head coach Tito Reyes shared his solution to win the next match. “Well-prepared naman kami kahit na six players lang ang nasa team namin at sa ganitong situation naka-prepare na ang mindset nila,” Reyes expressed.
Left with their last match in the tourney, the DLSU-D cagebelles will clash against the Philippine Merchant Marine School (PMMS) Lady Mariners at the University of Makati gymnasium on March 1, 10:30 in the morning.
