Patriot volleyball rules double header at homecourt in NCR-UCLAA
Sweeping each other’s rival, DLSU-D volleyball men and women ran a show for the full crowd of Lasallians in the eliminations round of the National Capital Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCR-UCLAA) held at the Ugnayang La Salle gym, February 21.
Drawing first blood, the Lady Patriots prolonged their spotless record, 4-0, at the expense of Saint Francis of Assisi College (SFAC) – Paranaque Lady Doves, tallying of 25-17, 25-20, and a drowning 25-11 final set.
With their veteran presence, Mara Allyza Galicia and Yasmin Shane Parohinog helmed the offense that took the wings out of the Lady Doves.
Rising from the fall against Rizal Technologic University (RTU) and National College of Business and Arts (NCBA), the Patriot spikers halted their losing streak after easily sealing the match against Asian Institute of Maritime Studies (AIMS) with markers of 25-14, 25-14, and 25-17.
Gunning the marines, Patriot ace spiker Eddiemar Kasim once again released his heavy spikes to take down the Blue Sharks.
Patriot head coach Al-Frazin Abdulwahab shared another odd problem for his team’s last two losses against NCBA and RTU⎯carsickness. For the spikers, majority of the players are unaccustomed to long car trips, and motion sickness complicates their performance in matches located far from Cavite. Since motion sickness can last a few hours, the Patriot spiker coach suggests that they should be at the venue two hours ahead of game time to settle down.
