Patriot volleybelles earn second win in NCRUCLAA against Lady Mariners, 3-1
Defying the uproar of the rival’s home-court crowd, the Lady Patriots continue to dominate the National Captial Region Universities and Colleges of Luzon Athletic Association (NCRUCLAA) volleyball tourney as they outplayed the Philippine Merchant Marine School (PMMS) Lady Mariners, tallying 25-18, 25-21, 18-25, and 25-16 yesterday at the PMMS gymnasium.
Grabbing the first canto, Lady Patriot Yasmin Shane Parohinog discharged three service aces resulting to the shattered defense of Lady Mariners, 6-2. Keeping their composure, Patriot Mara Allyza Galicia bombarded the blue-and-white courtside with relentless spikes tallying, 25-18.
Nearly losing the second set, Parohinog seamlessly broke the frozen scoreboard, 19-all, by boosting their defense against the PMMS volleybelles, 25-21.
Turning the tables of the upside-down in the third set, blue-and-white found their momentum once more and used it to the green-and-white’s disadvantage, 18-25.
Despite the rival’s effort to extend the bout, Lady Patriot Basilyn Joyce Delfin closed the doors for Lady Mariners with a quick spike, 25-16.
Expressing head coach Joven Racelis’ preparations for the next games, “Tuloy lang ang training [namin] at improvement ng skills ng bawat isa [tulad ng] sa spikes at atake.”
Aiming for the semis, the Lady Patriots will battle against Philippine Air Transport and Training Services (PATTS) College of Aeronautics Lady Seahorses at the University of Makati gymnasium on February 17 at 9 AM.
