Patriots dominate Blue Hawks, clinches gold in NCRAA finals
The DLSU-D Patriots conquered the last leg of the 30th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) men’s volleyball after reigning over the Blue Hawks of Immaculada Concepcion College (ICC) last August 9 at Ugnayang La Salle (ULS).
Seizing the gold, the Patriots concluded this season victoriously in the best-of-three finals showdown, where they cleanly finished with a 2-0 standing against the Blue Hawks.
Sporting top-notch athleticism throughout their matches, the green-and-white bagged four spots from the roster of six mythical players. Jayvee Tabuclao was hailed as the Best Libero, Valeriano Sasis II as the Best Middle Blocker, John Robert Phillip Alabin as the Best Outside Hitter, and Marlouie Gajudo as the Best Server. Meanwhile, Paul Bryan Malaiba proved to be a mighty hit as the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
Finishing their first game with a victory, the Patriots managed to save their chances in the blink-or-miss-it moment after ending the fifth set with a score of 15-13. To further seal the deal, Alabin was crowned the best player of the game.
The Patriots returned stronger in the second game after they captured the championship with the set scores 3-0 against the Blue Hawks. Their spikes and digs swiftly lead the team to secure the first set with a four-point lead, 25-21.
Despite the tight-knit match on the second and third sets of the game, with barely a gap against ICC’s players, the DLSU-D spikers still managed to take a step ahead and lock in gold, winning 25-23 and 26-24, respectively.
The Patriots utilized the expected fiery championship match as a platform to showcase their hard-hitting team play and skills, resulting in the defeat of Blue Hawks.
NCRAA’s stage is definitely not the team’s dead end as the Dasmariñas City Collegiate Athletic Association (DCCAA) is the next scene for them to dominate.
