Project HASIK promotes Filipino culture among youth

DLSU-D AB Communication Public Relations students initiated a corporate social responsibility program titled “Project HASIK: Hatid Sining at Kultura” to raise awareness on Filipino culture and traditions among out-of-school youths aged six to 13 years old from Bahay Pag-Asa.

This culture-related outreach program was conducted at the City Social Welfare Development (CSWD) Office in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on March 19. It showcased workshops for dancing, singing, and arts and crafts to educate the youth on the significant role of culture in the Filipino society.

Project HASIK also featured Larong Pinoy, wherein the out-of-school youth participated in Filipino games, such as tumbang preso, patintero, tamaang tao, and sipa.

Lagi na tayo nakakakita ng normal na outreach project so we decided to bring culture sa mga kabataan. This is really a pioneer activity kasi hindi pa ito nagagawa ng ibang Public Relations class o ng ibang organizations na mag-conduct ng project na naka-focus sa culture,” says Project Head Niel Clemente.

Meanwhile, Public Relations class president Charmaine Sevilla suggested that future Public Relations classes and student organizations could adapt this type of corporate social responsibility program and implement it in other areas.

She added that they collaborated with the DLSU-D La Salle Filipiniana Dance Company (LSFDC) and Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC) for the implementation of Project HASIK.
