Psych dept hosts 6th CALABARZON Research Colloquium

As part of their Psychology Enhancement Program (PEP), the DLSU-D Psychology Department hosted the 6th CALABARZON Research Colloquium in Psychology (CRCP) at the Alumni Auditorium on March 18 and 19.

With the theme “Trends and Prospects in Social and Organizational Psychology in CALABARZON,” the CRCP encourages students to present their research papers on the field of psychology, says Psychology Department Chair Rowena Heradura.

The event featured Dr. Ma. Regina Hechanova, a professor from Ateneo de Manila University (ADMU), who she talked about Industrial and Organizational (IO) psychology practices and researches in the Philippines.

Meanwhile, during the plenary session, psychology students Margaret Aribon, Charlotte Basco, Merici Ednalino, and Kristine Oasin presented their research paper titled “An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis of Masturbation among Young Adult Filipino Women.”

On the other hand, 21 psychology students also presented studies on various topics such as abortionists, breast cancer survivors, Filipina femininity, visually-impaired people, altruism in sixth grade students, child workers, gossips in workplace, and out-of-school youth factory workers during the parallel sessions.

Although the Psychology Department invited students from other universities in CALABARZON to participate in the CRCP, Heradura said representatives from other schools were not able to attend due to conflict in schedule.

More than 300 third and fourth year DLSU-D Psychology students participated in the research colloquium.
