SCE lifts SENTRO suspension, R.E.D. Alliance dissolved
The Student Commission on Election (SCE) has lifted the suspension of SENTRO La Salle and ordered the dissolution of R.E.D. Alliance as a recognized political party in the university, as stated in the SCE Resolution No. 02, Series of 2018-2019 and Resolution No. 03, Series of 2018-2019, respectively.
SENTRO La Salle and R.E.D. Alliance were suspended last academic year (AY) 2017-2018 due to non-compliance with event requirements for existing political parties as mandated in the Implementing Rules and Regulations of the 2016 amended Student Election Code Article V, Section 5.
R.E.D. Alliance was unable to examine and validate their participation during the 2017 University Student Elections, prompting the SCE to issue an order of dissolution upon the confirmation of the case as stipulated in Article 5, Section 10 of the 2016 Amended Election Code, as per SCE member Ian Melvin Tagra.
As of press time, the commission has yet to receive an appeals from R.E.D. Alliance regarding SCE Resolution No. 02. On the other hand, TATAG (Transformative Actions Towards Active Governance) Lasalyano political party has also yet to choose whether they shall remain as TATAG Lasalyano or return as SENTRO La Salle as it will depend on the political party’s executive board discretion, as per Tagra.
As of press time, there is still no ‘unified statement’ from TATAG Lasalyano, while R.E.D. has yet to send their correspondence to The HERALDO FILIPINO.
The SCE is currently organizing the filing of existing political parties for re-accreditation. Regarding the possible entrant of new political parties in the university, Tagra clarified that the commission “left a space for unexpected events to take place”.
