SEP sticker requirement reduced from 35 to 21

The required number of stickers in the Student Engagement Program immersion passport is reduced from 35 to 21 in response to the postponement of the Lasallian Festival (LSF) 2020 due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, as stated by SEP Coordinator Venicris Alonsozana.

Following the announcement of the Vice Chancellor of Academics and Research (VCAR) Dr. Marco Saez that LSF 2020 is temporarily put on hold, the SEP Council immediately convened a meeting online to decide on reducing the required number of stickers. The council is composed of Alonsozana, Office of Student Services Dean Arch. Antonio Gutierrez Jr, and SEP coordinators from the seven colleges.

“First year students need to accomplish now the minimum number of stamps, as follows: six stamps under Mandated Activities, one stamp for the Arbor Day Act (Tree Planting), and 14 stamps for any of the remaining categories (cultural, environmental, academic support, and other activities),” Alonsozana furthered.

Arbor Day compliance

In response to student concern in compliance due to continuous class suspensions with the Arbor Day Act of 2012, where students are required to plant a tree and nurture it for three months, students are informed to plant again since there is “still ample time for compliance”.

Alonsozana added that the SEP Council will be providing an additional one stamp under the environmental category for those who will be able to comply with the Arbor Day Act of 2012.

Further adjustments

For the meantime, a survey questionnaire evaluation is currently being finalized which will be answered by freshmen students under SEP, where further adjustments on the program will be based from, the SEP coordinator said.

“Student’s submission of the evaluation will merit them 2 stamps,” Alonsozana shared.
