USC proposes wearing of civilian attire this ‘summer season’

The University Student Council (USC) 2016-2017 has requested that the students be allowed to wear civilian attire from Mondays to Saturdays starting May 11 until the end of the academic year, as per their letter of request to the Office of Student Services (OSS) Dean Don Malabanan on May 8.

According to the USC’s letter of request,  their proposal aims to “provide comfort” to the students so that they can cope with the summer season’s high temperatures.

“The inconvenience of going to school in uniform is considered to be a little unbearable according to the students,” the USC stated in the letter supported by the seven college council presidents.

However, the students must still abide with the proper civilian attire as prescribed by the DLSU-D Student Handbook.

Earlier this May, Bulacan State University temporarily suspended the use of uniforms due to the shift in the academic calendar that requires students to attend class during the hottest days of the year.

Moreover, De La Salle Lipa (DLSL)’s University Student Government has requested similar approval from their administration as reported by LAVOXA, the official student publication of DLSL.

As of press time, the letter is yet to be approved by the OSS Dean.
