Cavite cagebelles begin strong in PRISAA 2016 regl’s

Returning to prolong their dynasty, the Cavite cagebelles crushed Batangas with a 26-point lead, 86-60, in the opening game of the Private Schools Athletic Association – Regionals at the Batangas City sports center today, February 7.

The early point of the first quarter came from the Batangas team’s steady scoring rhythm as Cherry Cuyom led a 4-point buffer against the green-and-white squad, 13-17.
However, the advantage ended for the Batangeños’ side after the Cavite team rendered a momentum-gaining 7-0 run in the last minute of the first canto, 20-17.
Despite losing their stellar player Martha Azarcon from a minor concussion, Cavite showed blow-by-blow steals that produced opportunities for fastbreaks to arrange a 14-point lead by the end of the first half, 45-31.
With the intensity of their offense, the Caviteños outscored the Batangas-based squad with 25-9 run in the third quarter with the comeback of Azarcon, 75-41. The Cavite-based squad composed an 18-1 at the two-minute mark that capped off a pulverizing lead.

Halting the opportunity for a black-and-gray cagebelles comeback, Cavite’s bench players succeeded their starter’s domination in the last quarter, ending on a high note with a 86-60 victory.
Despite missing the second quarter’s action, Patriot Azarcon still finished at the peak of the scoreboards with 17 markers.
