DLSU-D tracksters finish 1st day of 21st UniGames with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 1 bronze
The dark skies failed to stop the athletics competition of the 21st Philippine University Games (UniGames) as national-level DLSU-D tracksters racked up the medals in the Macias Percides Coliseum, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, yesterday, October 26.
Reaping the rewards
In the long jump competition, Patriot Felyn Dolloso swept her opponents aside during her first three out of six jumps. Dolloso posted a 5.80, 5.92, and a top-ranking 6.02 meters respectively, topping her adversaries. The DLSU-D long jumper skipped the rest of the turns but still secured the gold medal. In her afternoon match at triple jump, Dolloso added another gold medal to her record despite committing three foul jumps, which narrowed her turns. Dolloso’s best effort of 12.46 concluded the match with 11.91 meters as the next to her highest record.
Short by 62 tenths of a second to the gold, DLSU-D trackster Robert Francisco grabbed the silver medal with a time of 15.23 seconds in the 110-meter long track with high hurdles out of seven competitors.
Patriot Jasmin Martinez won DLSU-D a bronze medal after marking 12.53 seconds behind University of Santo Tomas’s Glaize Salcedo and Alyssa Marie Andrade’s 12.42 and 12.47 seconds in the 100-meter run women’s division.
Finishing behind the bronze medal, Patriot Marimar Manzano beat the clock at 12.90 seconds, placing her in the fourth place.
