DLSU-D cagebelles crush FAITH in 10th UCCL elims
Kicking off as a two-time defending champion, the DLSU-D cagebelles overpowered the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) Lady Bravehearts by 33 points, 91-58, in the 10th season of the United CALABARZON Collegiate League women’s basketball tournament at the FAITH Gymnasium, Tanauan, Batangas yesterday, July 28.
Consistent supremacy
Marking all sides of the cylinder, the green-and-white squad posted a 52.23 percent field goal throughout the game.
Pulverizing each other’s team defense early in the game, DLSU-D stalwart Agatha Azarcon and FAITH’s Maica Murillo led their teams in the first quarter with stellar offense before the Patriots ended the quarter in a sweeping fashion, 25-14.
Despite having the driver’s seat all game long, the DLSU-D squad threw a 17-3 tear in the start of the third canto, ballooning the lead, 67-35.
Showcasing their offense late in the fourth quadrant, FAITH standout Murillo racked up 13 points in a 15-5 run against DLSU-D, 89-58, but DLSU-D’s wide gap wrapped up the match, 91-58.
Continuing their championship run, the DLSU-D Patriots will square-off against its sister school, De La Salle-Lipa, on August 6 at the same gym.
