Patriots drop PRISAA ‘15 beach volley stint

Losing the regionals ticket, the DLSU-D volleyball men and women teams both exited in dismay with 0-2 and 1-2 records, respectively, in the Private Schools Athletic Association – Provincials beach volleyball competition at the De La Salle Health Sciences Institute in a back-and-forth changing weather yesterday, December 5.

Sand-court spell

Lady Patriots duo Katrina Carranza and Yasmin Shane Parohinog struggled to spark an early lead in the tourney as they knelt to University of Perpetual Help System Dalta – Molino’s (UPHSD-M) Rochet Dela Paz and Evangeline Pastor, 15-21.

Reserving a slot in the semi-finals, the second game ended with DLSU-D taking advantage of Imus Institute’s shoddy defense with Parohinog’s service aces, 21-13.

Forcing a second encounter against the Lady Altases, the Dasmariñas-based squad settled at third spot as they succumbed to a 16-21 defeat against UPHSD-M during the semifinals match.

Meanwhile, the spikers trio of Patriots Al-frazin Abdulwahab, Al-Khaizar Que, and Alsafari Pajiji failed to mark a victory in the tourney as they fell on a 0-2 record against Saint Francis of Asissi College (SFAC).

Despite launching an 11-4 advantage in their game-opener, DLSU-D still suffered against SFAC’s John Albert Ablanca and Jackiel Marajorie, who amplified their offense to push a five-point lead, 16-21.

Battling for the second time, the Patriots dropped the semifinals opportunity as SFAC swept the green-and-white duo with a 13-21 victory.
